Important Notes

When used with 24-pin GM applications, a socket booster is required.

For applications sensitive to electrical noise or latency (such as certain VW or Nissan systems), a shorter cable length may be preferable. Custom cable lengths can be provided in place of the standard 18-inch cable when specified at the time of order.

Overview

This is the latest generation Ostrich emulator, the 2.0 model. It features an extremely compact, durable, and versatile design with high-performance capabilities. The unit supports full 921.6k communication speed and memory sizes ranging from 4k (2732A) up to 512k (4-Mbit 29F040), including common devices such as 27C128, 27C256, and 27C512.

The updated design builds on prior Ostrich platforms and adds advanced features including address tracing, completely seamless uploads and readbacks, fully isolated and buffered inputs and outputs, easily accessible pin-configuration switches, clearly labeled connectors, improved power-supply architecture, long-life lithium coin-cell battery backup, and a reduced-chipset USB interface. It supports standard JEDEC-compatible 24-, 28-, and 32-pin emulation headers.

The compact form factor is housed in a precision CNC-cut enclosure with a silkscreened Lexan overlay, delivering both durability and a clean, professional appearance. The Ostrich 2.0 sets a high standard for fitment, performance, and reliability.

Included are a 6-foot USB cable, an 18-inch 28-pin DIP emulation header, and a 28-pin machine-tooled socket that can be attached to the emulation cable for added protection and improved electrical connection.

The Ostrich 2.0 also supports ROM tracing, a feature useful for ROM definition development and for providing datalogging capabilities in ECUs that support hit-window functionality.
